I would consider this southwestern adaptation of the Three Little Pigs to fall under the fractured fairytale genre. The javelinas started the fire, and burnt coyote so he ran away forever. The coyote could not blow this house away, so he tried to get in through the stove pipe. Their sister had built a house out of adobe bricks. The coyote blew it away as well, so the two brothers went to find their sister. So, the first javelina ran to find his brother who built a house of saguaro ribs. The first javelina built a house of tumbleweeds, but the magical coyote huffed, and puffed, and blew it away. The story begins with the three brothers and sister dividing ways, each to go on to build their own house. ![]() ![]() However, in this tale the wolf is a coyote and the pigs are javelinas, or a relative to the swine. ![]() The Three Little Javelinas is an adaptation of the much known and loved Three Little Pigs story.
